Hive’s innovative Electronic Patient Record (EPR) solution powered by Epic who are a multi-national, award winning organisation, with over 40 years’ experience in the health sector and have millions of patient records, Epic will bring all our patient information into one easily accessible place and make our services more effective than ever before.

By streamlining 750 patient record systems and creating a single source of information that both staff and patients can use, we’ll achieve huge improvements on several fronts.

We’ll transform the patient and staff experience enabling staff to provide seamless care.  By having one single system across our 9 Hospitals staff and patients will have their patient record at their fingertips wherever they go to receive care across MFT.

Recruitment and Selection Process

Applying with us is simple and straightforward.

Before applying

Before applying, read the job description and person specification for the role you’re interested in and decide if your qualifications, skills and experience are well suited to our requirements.

You’ll then need to submit an online application. This should tell us about your education, key achievements and qualifications plus your relevant skills and experience (both work and non-work related). But it’s also an opportunity to tell us about why our transformation excites you and what you hope to gain by joining us.

Post Shortlisting & progression to selection

If you’re shortlisted for a role you apply for, you’ll be contacted by our Recruitment Team via email and they’ll inform you about the selection process.  This will vary according to the role but typically this process will be carried out virtually via MS Teams so you’d need to ensure you have a device or access to a device that would allow you to use this.

Virtual selection processes may include exercises as straightforward as a Technical & Competency Based Interview, a Stakeholder Engagement Exercise, a Problem Solving Exercise etc but again, this will look different depending on the role you have applied for and the process will be designed to enable our HIVE Team to assess your skills, aptitude and experience based in the role profile.

Sphinx Testing

Some roles involved in the Epic EPR system design and build will also require candidates to undertake a form of online psychometric testing (Epic Sphinx test) as part of the selection process.  These tests enable us to learn more about your ability in problem solving and your overall aptitude to ensure these are a strong match to enable you to carry out the role effectively.   You’d be advised post shortlisting if these tests are relevant to you.

Typically, the Selection Process date will be noted at the bottom of the advert so it’s best to consider this before applying to ensure you can make this date and diary it as we are unlikely to be able to set separate dates from this should you not be available.

How will MFT ensure I am enabled to work safely throughout Covid 19 both now and in the future?

We understand that this is something on most candidates’ minds when considering the world of work and certainly before you choose a career with us.  In normal circumstances, we’d encourage you to come on site to meet with some of our team, have a look at the working environment and get a feel for our culture. Current restrictions due to COVID-19 means this is unlikely as we have had to, like most other organisations and businesses, reduce our footfall on to our sites to for necessary purposes only – this is to safeguard both our workforce, our patients and members of the public.

You can however engage with us in other ways to understand if MFT is an organisation you’ll be happy and excited working in.  You can do this by taking a look at our careers site and social media platforms to find out more about our Trust so you can get to know us and decide if we’re right for you.  What’s more, if you have role specific queries before applying, consider contacting the Recruiting Manager whose details should appear on the advert.

As you’ll have already read in the Recruitment and Selection process section, if you’re applying to join us, the selection process will carried out virtually, via MS Teams.

In terms of workplace safety, our Nurses strictly follow the Trust’s infection prevention and control guidance. We’re well-equipped to manage any suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19, and we also have close links with infection control teams and Public Health England.

To ensure our Trust is ‘caring for you, as you care for others’ we have a variety of ways to access COVID-19 support across the Trust:

  • Information and support guides on the EHW intranet site and MLCO/TLCO extranet.
  • Caring For You: daily wellbeing sessions provided by a psychological wellbeing therapist.
  • Virtual COVID-19 traumatic incident debriefs are available if a particularly distressing incident occurs.
  • Access to a 24-hour employee assistance programme.

If I join the HIVE Team, what can I expect in terms of flexible working hours

The team members will be able to mix home working and on site working. We would operate a core hours system so start and finish times could be flexible. We provide technology that allows for agile working arrangements.

What training will I receive to enable me to perform my role?

You will be given exciting and comprehensive training for your role including any necessary training with Epic which may lead to you becoming accredited in the Epic system dependent on your role. The programme team will offer a comprehensive introduction and normal objective setting and appraisal processes to support your individual development needs. You will be given expert at the elbow training by our Epic colleagues and you in turn will be given the opportunity to develop others as well.

What career progression may be available if I join the HIVE team?

Being part of the Hive Team will develop and challenge your skills which will prepare you for future roles within the Hive team or across MFT.

You will be able to return to a clinical or operational role as an expert in the EPR with the ability to use the amazing information in Hive to support improvements in clinical care or service delivery. Or you will be able to grow and develop through the Hive Team structure which will have clear pathways to access promotion opportunities and develop skills in transformation, change management, clinical informatics, training, technical and system configuration.

Once our Hive is live, it is the beginning of a new journey supporting the organisation to continuously improve the quality of care through effective adoption and use of the system.
