Access / Referral

Young People and Families:

We are open to self-referrals from children and young people and/or families who can contact the team directly on 0161 701 0447.

Professionals

Referrals from professionals can be made by emailing MFTCEDS@mft.nhs.uk. When making a referral to MSEDS could you please include a recent height, weight, rate of weight loss and record of physical observations, also any recent blood results would be helpful. If you have any urgent concerns you can contact the MFT CEDS team via telephone on 0161 701 0447 and an on-call practitioner can discuss it with you.

We are a Monday to Friday service 9am to 5pm, with MFT CEDS admin support based at The Harrington Building available 8:30am to 5:00pm ( 0161 701 0447) or the Carol Kendrick Centre (0161 902 3467) if you have significant concerns about a young person’s physical health then they need to be seen by the local A&E department

Once you have referred:

All referrals are screened everyday by an Eating Disorder Therapist and everyone will be seen within 4 weeks. We will feedback to you via letter following the young person’s assessment.

Locations

Children and young people from Manchester, Salford and Trafford will be seen at the base closest to their home.

Service description

We are a new service offering community support to children and young people up to the age of 18 with suspected or diagnosed eating disorder including early intervention. The team is made up of a Psychiatrist, Eating Disorder Therapists, Dieticians and Family Therapy.
