Trainee Community Diagnostics Care Navigator – Band 2

Do you have a passion for care and improving diagnostic access for our patients across Manchester? This role supports our patients who experience barriers in accessing healthcare. It is an exciting role working in a newly formed team where you’ll work with local community groups and support engagement activities. You’ll study for an apprenticeship qualification in Community Health and Wellbeing.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator or coordinator (ideally within a learning and development or education team) to join the Community Diagnostics Centres newly formed Workforce Development Team.

In this role you’ll provide administrative and project support for the team enabling delivery of the CDC workforce development strategy.

With a passion for learning and staff development, you’ll be involved in the implementation of brand-new innovative roles into the NHS and supporting the development of training content in a range of medium.

Trainee Healthcare Scientist Diagnostic Assistant - Band 2

We have multiple opportunities available for individuals to join MFT in a brand-new role designed to support patients through our community diagnostic centres.

The role is multi-skilled and provides the experience to work across 6 diagnostic services, covering endoscopy, ophthalmology, cardiology, respiratory, phlebotomy and imaging. You’ll learn a variety of skills from being able to take patients’ blood to taking ECG’s, helping with positioning patients for endoscopy procedures and scans as well as learning how to conduct respiratory tests such as spirometry on patients.

The role is a great opportunity to join the NHS and start your career in healthcare.   What’s more you’ll have the opportunity to study for a Healthcare Science Apprenticeship.

Pharmacy Assistants - Band 2

We have multiple opportunities available at both our Wythenshawe and Oxford Road sites for enthusiastic individuals to work within our Pharmacy Team. Pharmacy Assistants help our Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians order, prepare, and dispense medicines.   Working under the direction of a registered Pharmacist, you’ll work with patients every day helping them with their prescriptions and  answering their questions, either face-to-face or over the phone.

You’ll make sure the pharmacy is well stock, ordering items, as well as receiving, loading, and unloading deliveries. If you’re working in a hospital or health centre, you may also deliver medicines to wards or healthcare professionals.

Assistant Ophthalmic Science Practitioner - Band 3

As an Assistant Ophthalmic Science Practitioner (OSP) , you’ll be involved in the day to day running of the Ophthalmic Imaging Department, within outpatients, at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital (MREH). With 18 full time Assistant OSPs working in the team, you’ll be involved in OCT imaging, HVF testing, visual acuity recording, drop installation and supporting administrative tasks.

Radiology Department Assistants - Band 2

Are you a people person? As a radiology department assistant, you’ll work closely with diagnostic radiographers who use imaging to understand which disease or condition is causing a patient’s illness. You’ll also support Therapeutic Radiographers to treat medical conditions, such as cancer and tumours, with doses of x-rays and other ionising radiation.

You’ll be ordering stocks, helping with procedures, making sure the working environment is clean and hygienic, preparing patients for treatment (including lifting patients), checking the equipment and reporting faults or inputting data.

Respiratory Sleep Service Co-ordinator - Band 3

You’ll work as part of a team of coordinators with the responsibility to provide a comprehensive and patient-orientated reception and central booking service to the Sleep Service at Trafford General Hospital and Withington Community Diagnostic Centre.

The central booking function is the focal point for the receipt and administrative triage of referrals to the Sleep Service. You’ll gain an in-depth knowledge of a wide range of booking protocols/templates and specific standards for each area enabling you to make, amend and cancel appointments.

The reception function requires a high level of face-to-face patient contact.
