Images are taken and processed on the day of the appointment and are returned to clinic with the patient. The departmental staff also instruct and supervise a large number of undergraduate and postgraduate students.<\/p>\n<p>The students continue to receive training and support from the department during the duration of their courses. The X-ray department is part of the Clinical Radiology Division of the Trust and is electronically linked to the other sites by a Radiology Information System.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The radiology department provides the diagnostic imaging service for all the clinical departments within the hospital. The department cannot operate an appointment system but sees each patient in turn. A small number of X-ray examinations have to be done on scanning equipment which is situated in the Radiology department at the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI). The department will arrange appointments for these.<\/p>\n<h4>There is no NHS-commissioned service for Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology.
