A very small number of patients are treated under conscious sedation, when staff training is required.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">In addition, adults with significant special needs that prevent them from receiving dental treatment in any other way, are also treated with sedation or general anaesthesia following assessment by a consultant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The Oral Surgery clinics commonly use sedation and general anaesthetic to assist in the extraction of teeth and other surgical procedures.
