[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The first phase in a significant renovation project to improve the emergency care facilities at Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI), part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), is now complete, with the opening of a brand-new resuscitation area.<\/p>\n

The new resus area, which took approximately 18 months to complete, features a more streamlined layout, state-of-the-art equipment, and increased capacity, with 10 (up from 6) resuscitation bays.<\/p>\n

The area is designed around the needs of our patients, and clinical staff played a role in designing the dedicated resus rooms to ensure patient dignity, privacy, and noise reduction is maintained, whilst still allowing oversight and observation of critically unwell patients.<\/p>\n

The increased space in each room allows for a more accommodating space for multidisciplinary team members and essential equipment. Alongside the improved layout, the new resuscitation area features updated equipment, including new trolleys and monitoring systems.<\/p>\n

These improvements will provide nursing staff with the best possible environment look after patients until they stable enough to move to intensive care, or to another ward or hospital.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https:\/\/vimeo.com\/1067010129\/8f234d9b46?ts=0&share=copy” css=””][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”33589,33592,33593,33594,33595,33596″ css=””][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Project RED<\/strong><\/p>\n

MRI\u2019s \u2018Renovation of Emergency Department\u2019 \u2013 known as Project RED \u2013 will enhance services across MRI, which is an adult Major Trauma Centre for Greater Manchester.<\/p>\n

Alongside the opening of a new Emergency Department Resus area in Phase 1, plans include the creation of six new operating theatres, which will support the hospital\u2019s role as one of the regional centres for specialist surgery for Manchester.<\/p>\n

The next phase of works will see the demolition of the old Resus Department and construction of the extended Majors, Minors and Triage areas in the Emergency Department, alongside the new operating Theatres on the second floor of the building.<\/p>\n
