Colin Potts QPM
Public Governor (Rest of Greater Manchester)
Public Governor for Rest of Greater Manchester
Term of Office: 3 Years – Ending at 2022 Annual/Special Members’ Meeting
I became a Governor to continue to serve the public and NHS staff following a long career in public services. I served in the Greater Manchester Police from 1962 to 1997 and at Wythenshawe Hospital from 1997 to 2015.
Throughout my police service, I developed close contacts with NHS staff and the public. This culminated in receiving the Queen’s Police Medal in 1997 for outstanding services to the communities of Wythenshawe. During my 18 years as Security Manager at Wythenshawe Hospital, I developed and installed a comprehensive CCTV system which radically reduced crime, including assaults on staff.
As an active member of the Trust’s Cycling Club, I accompany the team at weekends and take part in sponsored events. Cycling promotes physical and mental health and as a Governor I would like to encourage greater participation. I also support the development of less congested access routes to our hospitals and the green transport agenda.
