{"id":1532,"date":"2020-07-07T12:24:18","date_gmt":"2020-07-07T12:24:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mft.nhs.uk\/rmch\/wythenshawe-starlight-unit-phased-reopening\/"},"modified":"2020-07-07T12:24:18","modified_gmt":"2020-07-07T12:24:18","slug":"wythenshawe-starlight-unit-phased-reopening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mft.nhs.uk\/rmch\/wythenshawe-starlight-unit-phased-reopening\/","title":{"rendered":"Wythenshawe Starlight Unit: Phased Reopening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Royal Manchester Children\u2019s Hospital (RMCH) which manages The Starlight Unit at Wythenshawe Hospital will begin a phased re-opening of its paediatric services following the temporary relocation of the Unit to RMCH in April, as part of the Trust\u2019s response to COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>The Starlight Unit will commence a three staged re-opening of its inpatient and outpatient services, including paediatric emergencies, from Tuesday 7th July, 2020. The Unit will initially operate with a reduced number of beds, accepting GP and community referrals and urgent admissions in the first week.<\/p>\n<p>The Starlight Unit will open in three stages as follows;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stage one: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tuesday 7th July 2020 \u2013 Unit opens to GP and community referrals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stage two:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wednesday 8th July 2020 \u2013 Unit open to emergency admissions from 8am via Ambulance. For parents, carers and guardians, this means that from 8am on Wednesday 8th July, Wythenshawe Hospital\u2019s Emergency Department will now accept paediatric emergencies via Ambulance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stage three:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Monday 13th July 2020 \u2013 Unit opens to elective admissions.<\/p>\n<p>New processes have been implemented to support social distancing and patient streaming to ensure the safety of our patients, their families and staff.
