{"id":1807,"date":"2018-05-08T13:39:41","date_gmt":"2018-05-08T13:39:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mft.nhs.uk\/saint-marys\/?page_id=1807"},"modified":"2025-07-08T15:51:38","modified_gmt":"2025-07-08T15:51:38","slug":"worried-about-your-pregnancy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mft.nhs.uk\/saint-marys\/patients-visitors\/worried-about-your-pregnancy\/","title":{"rendered":"Worried about your pregnancy?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div id=\"where can you go\" class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>Whilst the majority of pregnancies will progress without complications, many women experience problems which they feel they would like support or further information for.<\/p>\n<p>If you develop worrying symptoms during pregnancy, there are several places that you can turn to for advice:<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Your general practitioner (GP)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Your GP can be accessed for a range of non-urgent services.\u00a0 If you have a non-urgent concern not related to your pregnancy (chest\/urine\/ear infections, skin complaints etc,) you should see your GP for advice as they are better placed to help with these problems.\u00a0 If you are unable to book an appointment, or need to see a GP out of hours, call your surgery and follow the advice provided.\u00a0 You may also consider visiting a walk-in centre if your GP is closed, or you cannot get an appointment.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Walk-in Centres<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Walk-in centres can be accessed by anyone and have more flexible opening hours.\u00a0 You can visit a walk in centre for any general illness or concern for which you may have visited your GP.\u00a0 You can find your nearest walk-in centre at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhs.uk\">www.nhs.uk<\/a>. \u00a0Here are a few walk in centres in the Manchester area:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]<div class=\"c-highlighted-bullets\">\n    <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manchester Royal Infirmary (Urgent Primary Care Centre) Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9WL. Open Monday to Friday \u2013 8.30 am-10.00 pm; Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays \u2013 10.00 am -10.00 pm.<\/li>\n<li>City Health Centre, 2nd Floor, Boots, 32 Market Street, Manchester, M1 1PL. Open seven days a week 8.00 am-8.00 pm.<\/li>\n<li>Hawthorn Medical Centre, Unit K, Fallowfield Retail Park, Birchfields Road, Manchester, M14 6FS. Open Monday-Friday 8.30 am-10.30 am, 1.00 pm-3.00 pm, 4.30 pm-6.00 pm; Saturday and Sunday 10.00 am-12.00 pm, 2.00 pm-4.00 pm.<\/li>\n<li>Salford NHS Walk-in Centre, Rear of Pendleton House, Off Broughton Road, Salford, M6 6LS. Open Monday-Friday, 11.00 am-6.00 pm; Saturday and Sunday 10.00 am-5.00 pm.<\/li>\n<li>Trafford Walk-in Centre, Trafford General Hospital, Moorside Rd, Urmston, M41 5SL. Open seven days a week 8.00 am-8.00 pm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There is also a Minor Injures Unit at Altrincham Hospital:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Altrincham Hospital Minor Injuries Unit, Railway Street, Altrincham, Cheshire, WA14 2RE. Opening Hours 8am &#8211; 8pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n<\/div>\n[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Accident and Emergency Department\/999<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Your local Accident and Emergency department can still be used if you have an emergency or accident not related to your pregnancy (chest pain, difficulty breathing, collapse, etc).\u00a0 Always inform the staff in the department you are pregnant.\u00a0 If your condition may affect your pregnancy, you will be referred to Triage for assessment.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure you have your green handheld pregnancy notes with you at all times.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Your Community Midwife<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Your community midwife can be contacted using the details given at booking.\u00a0 Usually these are written on the front of your handheld notes.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Obstetric Triage Department at Saint Mary\u2019s Hospital<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>(0161) 276 6567 (24 hours)<\/p>\n<p>If you are <strong>more than 20 weeks pregnant<\/strong> and booked under our care, you can speak to one of our midwives who will advise whether or not you need to come to hospital.\u00a0 Please have your pregnancy notes to hand when you call, as we make ask you to provide information from them.\u00a0 <u>Read more about attending Obstetric Triage<\/u><\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Daycare Assessment and Triage Unit at Wythenshawe Hospital<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>0161 291 2724 (24 hours)<\/p>\n<p>If you are <strong>more than 16 weeks pregnant<\/strong> and have pains, suspect you are in early labour, have any vaginal bleeding, or suspect that your waters have broken, you should refer yourself to Triage.
