{"id":5792,"date":"2023-08-18T19:31:07","date_gmt":"2023-08-18T19:31:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mft.nhs.uk\/saint-marys\/our-commitment-to-safety-2\/"},"modified":"2025-10-23T13:10:31","modified_gmt":"2025-10-23T13:10:31","slug":"our-commitment-to-safety-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mft.nhs.uk\/saint-marys\/our-commitment-to-safety-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Our commitment to safety"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Chief Nursing Officer for NHS England has issued this statement following the outcome of the trial of Lucy Letby: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/2023\/08\/commenting-on-the-verdict-in-the-lucy-letby-trial\/\">https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/2023\/08\/commenting-on-the-verdict-in-the-lucy-letby-trial\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The whole of the NHS has been saddened to hear that a healthcare professional has been found guilty of the murder and attempted murder of babies.<\/p>\n<p>These crimes have shocked and sickened staff across the country \u2013 none of us could understand how a healthcare professional could deliberately hurt a patient in their care.<\/p>\n<p>While there is no connection between this case and any of our hospitals, we want to assure you that the care and safety of all our patients is our highest priority.<\/p>\n<p>We encourage all our staff to raise concerns and have systems in place to support them.<\/p>\n<p>If, at any time, you have any concerns about the care of your baby or a loved one in our care then you should speak to the doctors or nurses in charge of the unit.
