Will Cooper, age 20, who works in the Manchester office of Arup, the built environment specialists, is enjoying the opportunity to help design modern health care facilities for North Manchester\u2019s residents.<\/p>\n<p>Will is doing a Level 6 degree apprenticeship in building services and sustainable engineering. He has worked with colleagues on the initial design concept for the new hospital, including the mechanical services in the building.<\/p>\n<p>Doing an apprenticeship has been great as I get valuable on the job experience while still getting all the qualifications I need,\u201d said Will.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorking on North Manchester General Hospital has been really rewarding as it\u2019s great to know we\u2019re contributing towards a community hub for the whole of North Manchester,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><u>Watch Will\u2019s vlog<\/u><\/p>\n<p><u>Find out about some of our other apprentices<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>Michelle Humphreys, Director of Strategic Projects at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, which is leading the NMGH redevelopment, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re working closely with Arup and our other contractors to provide a range of employment, training and education opportunities.\u00a0 Apprenticeships are just one of several options, and we\u2019re really pleased we can support the training of these young people as they help to deliver outstanding hospital and healthcare facilities for our patients and staff.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Engineering, construction management and quantity surveying apprentices are key members of the team delivering the transformation of North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH).
