Who are the Tertiary Paediatric Fatigue Service (TPFS)?
A fatigue management service for children and young people up to the age of 18 years.
The Tertiary Paediatric Fatigue Team is a team made up of different professionals who can support you to manage fatigue. The team can provide you with help to manage your symptoms and find strategies to manage your day-to-day life. We support you with conditions such as ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) and Post-covid Syndrome (Long Covid). The service provided is based on NICE Guidance- this is to make sure treatments are safe, effective and based on research. You will receive medical reviews based on your needs at that time, while taking steps towards feeling better.
How we can help:
The therapy service offers a combination of webinar teaching sessions and 1-1 treatment sessions to develop and implement a fatigue management programme that is personal to you. The team can provide Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Emotional well-being support to support you both physically and mentally.
We can also work with educational services to advise educational staff regarding how they may support you in an educational setting. This is typically done through written methods or online meetings.
The fatigue management programme uses the ASARM (Activity, Sleep and Rest Monitoring) app. This app has been specially designed and developed by Manchester University Foundation Trust to help you monitor your sleep, rest and activity as a part of your rehabilitation.
The service is an out-patient service, operating from the Harrington building at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. We do not offer home or in school visits.
