Chelsea Soka is a Lead Haemoglobinopathy Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) at Manchester Royal Infirmary, part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. She has spent the past several years building deep expertise in the care and management of haemoglobinopathies, with a particular focus on sickle cell, thalassaemia and Rare Inherited Anaemias (RIAs).
Chelsea has been a key member of the haemoglobinopathy team at MFT for several years, contributing to both frontline clinical care and the development of specialist services. Her leadership has been central to the establishment of Manchester’s dedicated Sickle Cell Unit — the first unit of its kind in the UK — where she works to ensure that patients receive rapid, compassionate, and evidence‑based care.
Chelsea is known for her patient‑centred approach, her advocacy for equitable care, and her dedication to advancing haemoglobinopathy services across the region. She continues to play a vital role in shaping high‑quality specialist nursing practice within one of the country’s leading haemoglobinopathy centres.
