Dr Vivian Tang

Dr Vivian Tang is a Consultant Paediatric Radiologist at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and the Transcranial Doppler (TCD) Lead for the North West Haemoglobinopathy Coordinating Centre (HCC). With over 15 years of consultant experience, she is a key clinical figure in paediatric imaging and haemoglobinopathy services across the region.
Dr Tang graduated with an MBChB from the University of Manchester before completing her Paediatric Radiology Fellowship at the renowned Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), University of Toronto. She holds MRCP and FRCR qualifications and has been a Consultant Paediatric Radiologist at RMCH since 2009.
Her expertise spans neuroimaging, oncology, and complex paediatric conditions, with particular specialist interests in haemoglobinopathies and Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1). Since 2014, she has been an accredited TCD practitioner, and in 2021 she became the HCC’s TCD Lead, overseeing regional standards for stroke risk screening in children with sickle cell disease.
Dr Tang is actively involved in clinical research and has contributed to multiple peer‑reviewed publications in paediatric radiology. Her work supports the development of high‑quality imaging pathways and enhances diagnostic accuracy for children with rare and complex disorders.
Through her leadership, clinical expertise, and commitment to service development, Dr Tang plays a vital role in advancing paediatric radiology and haemoglobinopathy care across the North West.
