Sonia Patel

Dr Sonia Patel completed her training at the University of Manchester in 2011. She brings a lot of experience to the service, having first worked with our patient group in 2005, and in the service at MFT since 2012.
As a practitioner working across the lifespan, Sonia specialises in both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Her clinical work focuses on reducing psychological distress and improving long-term emotional wellbeing for a diverse patient group.
Sonia is dedicated to strengthening the service by:
- Helping patients develop psychological flexibility using ACT principles.
- Improving quality of life through tailored psychological interventions.
- Supporting the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to deliver holistic, patient-centred care.
Sonia is passionate about service development and staff education, regularly contributing to webinars and other educational initiatives to raise awareness of the psychological needs of our patient group. She remains committed to the positive impact that accessible, evidence-based therapy can have on the success of a patient’s overall treatment pathway.
