The new hospital will deliver real community benefits and social value, including jobs, skills, local spend and economic growth.
The new Outpatient Centre will be the first project undertaken as part of this development. We hope to start work on this in 2027. The main hospital will follow, with a provisional completion date of 2035.
New services will support long-term environmental sustainability and provide cleaner, greener buildings for the benefit of the local neighbourhood and beyond.
We are committed to delivering social value and making a difference to people’s lives across our area. The project has already created nearly £32 million-worth of social value, according to Social Value TOMs (Themes, Outcomes, and Measures) analysis. TOMS is a framework used to translate social contributions – such as local job creation, carbon reduction, and community investment – into quantifiable financial equivalents.
- Work from 2021 to March 2026 including the construction of Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust’s North View, new hospital enabling works and Victoria North activity has generated social value activity valued at almost £32m.
- A total of 631 North Manchester residents have secured jobs:
- 1,212 residents in the hospital catchment have secured jobs
- 5,000+ jobs have been created or sustained
- 100% of these people were paid the real living wage
- 188 apprentices have been employed.
- A total of 6,388 volunteering hours and 148 community asks/offers through the North Manchester Brokerage Service, have been delivered.
- Nearly 9,500 students have been engaged with across primary, secondary and post-16 education.
