INTERESTS: Inflammatory arthritis including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and adults with juvenile idiopathic arthritis; therapeutics.
Trained in Canada and qualified in 1996. Undertook speciality training in Rheumatology at The University of Toronto and moved to Manchester in 2001. She has been a consultant at MFT since 2006. In addition to her clinical work, Professor Hyrich leads a large national research programme into the long term outcomes of adults and children diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis, with a particular interest in the long term safety of biologic and other therapies. She has published extensively on the effectiveness and safety of biologic therapies in these conditions, including the risk of infections and cancers.
