Biography

Miss Joanne Wong is a Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in uveitis, medical retina and cataract surgery at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. She graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2009 and completed her ophthalmology specialist training in the North West Deanery, obtaining her Certificate of Completion of Training in 2020. She subsequently undertook a specialist fellowship in uveitis at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, followed by advanced fellowship training in uveitis and medical retina at Moorfields Eye Hospital.

She has particular expertise in managing complex inflammatory eye disease and leads the Young Adult Uveitis Service, supporting patients as they transition from paediatric to adult care. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and is actively involved in clinical research and service improvement. She also enjoys teaching and supervising ophthalmologists in training, medical students and optometrists.
