Biography:
Mr Sultan is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon, who specialises in the management of disorders of the knee. His clinical practice includes the treatment of sports injuries, ligament injuries, arthritis and patella instability. He completed his specialist surgical training in the North West of England, and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS T&O) in 2016. He undertook prestigious knee fellowships in Harrogate and in France, where he worked with world-renowned knee surgeons specialising in partial knee replacements, knee ligaments reconstruction and patellofemoral joint surgery. Following over 4 years as a consultant at Royal Bolton Hospital, Mr Sultan was selected in 2021 to lead the acute knee injury services at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (Manchester Royal Infirmary, Trafford General Hospital, Altrincham General Hospital).
Mr Sultan is experienced in clinical and laboratory research, including the use of gait analysis. He completed a MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering at Cardiff University. His dissertation, A New Approach to Prevention of Knee Osteoarthritis, was presented at national and international conferences, and awarded Sir John Charnley and the British Association of Surgeons of the Knee prizes. Mr Sultan has several publications, and numerous presentations at national and international conferences. He regularly teaches on knee replacement and ATLS courses. He is a regular examiner of medical students at the University of Manchester, and is actively involved in training of junior surgeons in the NHS.
