Biography
Dr Conal Hayton is a consultant respiratory physician and the Lead Clinician for interstitial lung disease (ILD) at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester. Dr Hayton graduated from the University of Manchester and was subsequently trained in the North West. He and was awarded a PhD in ILD from the University of Manchester in 2022.
Dr Hayton’s areas of clinical interest include interstitial lung abnormalities (ILAs) and connective tissue disease related ILD. He jointly runs the rheumatology-ILD and vasculitis services with colleagues from Rheumatology and Renal Medicine. He is a principal investigator on multiple clinical trials in ILD which are delivered through the Clinical Research Facility at Wythenshawe Hospital. His personal research interests are breath biomarkers in ILD and ILAs. He has multiple research publications in ILD and regularly contributes to national and international conferences.
