Dr Ahmed graduated from the University of Manchester in 2003 and undertook specialist in cardiology in the North-West region. In 2015 she was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at Manchester University Hospitals, where she specialises in heart failure and cardiac devices. In 2021 she was awarded the ROY AWARD for outstanding contribution to heart failure services.
She is Honorary Reader in Cardiovascular Sciences at University of Manchester and NIHR specialty co-lead for Cardiovascular Research in Greater Manchester. Her research interests broadly span the themes of interventions to improve outcomes in heart failure, remote monitoring and management of heart failure, risk prediction models, and prevention of cardiovascular infection; with a focus on practice-based clinical trials and re-designing pathways to improve patient outcomes.
