Biography
Qualified from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1998. Senior House officer Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (2002 to 2005). Specialist Registrar Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine, London Deanery including Guys and St Thomas’ hospitals (2005 to 2010). Masters in Diabetes and Endocrinology from Kings College, London 2009.
Clinical Research Associate and post-CCT clinical fellow at University of Cambridge / Addenbrookes Hospital 2010 to 2014. PhD thesis “Improving Glucose Control and Reducing the Burden of Hypoglycaemia: Use of Novel Diabetes Technology in Type 1 Diabetes and Critical Illness”, University Of Cambridge; awarded 2014. Appointed Consultant Diabetologist at Manchester Diabetes Centre May 2014. Clinical Lead for Type 1 diabetes and insulin pump therapy.
Internationally recognised research in diabetes technology with 35+ publications in leading diabetes journals. Key research areas: Type 1 diabetes, Insulin pump therapy, closed-loop (Artificial Pancreas) and continuous glucose monitoring.
