Dental care of children with cleft lip and palate and with epidermolysis bullosa (a severe and life limiting skin condition); Conscious sedation for dentistry in children and young people; Anxiety management for children with learning disability.
Biography
Lucy graduated from Newcastle University in 2002. She then completed a two year general professional training programme at Newcastle Dental Hospital, followed by a year working as an oral and maxillofacial senior house officer in at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Aintree University Hospital, Liverpool.
Subsequently she took up an appointment as community dental officer in North Tyneside, during which time she obtained a post-graduate diploma in conscious sedation at Newcastle University. Her specialist training in paediatric dentistry was then undertaken at Newcastle and upon completion in 2010 she was employed as a paediatric specialty dentist as a member of the Northern Region Cleft Lip and Palate Team.
In 2011 she relocated to Birmingham to complete her two years consultant training. Lucy took up a fixed term consultant post at Sheffield for six months before moving to Manchester in 2014 to commence her current substantive post. She is an active member of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry.
