Biography

Dr Aftan is a Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in musculoskeletal radiology. He completed a dedicated one-year fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London, gaining advanced expertise in complex musculoskeletal imaging and intervention.

Dr Aftan has a particular focus on interventional musculoskeletal radiology, performing a wide range of spine and extremity procedures for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. His practice includes CT-guided thermal ablation of bone tumours under general anaesthesia, as well as ultrasound- and CT-guided interventions for pain management.

He is an Educational and Clinical Supervisor and actively contributes to postgraduate teaching within the Northwest Academy. Dr Aftan is a core member of the sarcoma multidisciplinary team and is involved in several other MDTs, including hand, metabolic bone disease, and diabetic foot services.
