Biography

Dr Abeles was awarded his Honours and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Psychology at University College London in 1995 and 1999 respectively, and gained his Doctor of Clinical Psychology degree from Kings College London in 2001 where he trained at the Maudsley Hospital. Since then, Dr Abeles has worked in both specialist and district CAMHS in Manchester’s MFT NHS Trust. One of his main areas of work has been at Galaxy House, an inpatient CAMHS unit specialising in child neurodevelopmental problems, eating disorders and pervasive arousal withdrawal syndrome. He also works into the regional social communication service seeing many children and adolescents with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. In addition, Dr Abeles works into the RMCH Paediatric service (lead for cleft lip and palate) and he is the clinical lead for RMCH’s Chronic Fatigue Service. Dr Abeles’ research experience has covered diverse areas of child and adolescent psychology, including CBT, anxiety, depression effective, effective multidisciplinary team working, visuospatial working memory, inpatient-CAMHS dependency measurement and e-health interventions.
