Biography
Professor Ho received her undergraduate medical degree from the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff with Honours (first class), where she also received funding from the Medical Research Council to complete an intercalated degree in Biochemistry. She subsequently undertook specialist training in Rheumatology in the Northwest of England. During her specialist training, she completed a Masters in Science degree in Clinical Rheumatology in 2002 and was subsequently awarded a Clinical Research Training Fellowship from the Medical Research Council to complete a PhD investigating the genetics of Psoriatic Arthritis at The University of Manchester, which she was awarded in 2007.
Since 2007, she has worked as a Consultant Rheumatologist at Manchester Royal Infirmary whilst also holding an honorary academic position at The University of Manchester. She sees all general rheumatological conditions at the Kellgren Centre for Rheumatology, which is also a Lupus Centre of Excellence. She is the musculoskeletal ultrasound lead for the Northwest of England and has a specialist interest in spondyloarthropathies.
In 2023, she was made an Honorary Professor within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine, and Health at The University of Manchester, having been awarded a Manchester Academic Health Science Centre (MAHSC) Clinical Chair.
She is the research lead at the Kellgren Centre for Rheumatology. She is involved in both basic science research in psoriatic arthritis at The University of Manchester and is principal investigator for clinical research studies, both academic and commercial, observational and investigative medicines, in particular those involving ultrasound and ultrasound guided synovial biopsy studies at the Kellgren Centre for Rheumatology in Manchester Royal Infirmary and the Manchester NIHR/Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility.
