She was appointed Consultant in 2009 and has since played a central role in developing the Allergy Centre into the largest adult Allergy service in the North West and one of the leading centres in the UK, combining comprehensive clinical care with an active research programme.

Her clinical and research expertise span the breadth of allergy, with particular interests in drug hypersensitivity, food allergy, and urticaria. She has been principal or co-investigator in multiple clinical trials, including in urticaria, and has led regional initiatives to develop referral pathways and integrated models of care. She is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester, co-leads the Hypersensitivity Module of the MSc in Immunology, and is deeply committed to allergy education and training across all levels. Nationally, she serves as Co-Chair of the Allergy and Immunology Specialty Advisory Committee of the JRCPTB, is a member of the BSACI Standards of Care Committee, and contributes to NHS England’s Allergy and Immunology Clinical Reference Group, where she recently led the review of the allergy service specifications.

Susana is passionate about advancing allergy services, integrating research with clinical innovation, and improving pathways of care for patients with allergic disease across the UK.
