Mr Dimitrios Varthalitis
Consultant Paediatric NeurosurgeonDimitrios Varthalitis is a consultant paediatric neurosurgeon based at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. His neurosurgical training was in the Athens General Hospital G. Gennimatas followed by fellowships in paediatric neurosurgery at Alder Hey Children’ s Hospital and the Royal Hospital of Children in Glasgow. His special interests are neuro-oncology, neurovascular and neuro-endoscopy.
Dimitrios has three Master degrees in: Emergency Prehospital Medicine & International Medicine, Health Crisis Management and Health Care Management.
He is a member of Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders) since 2007 and has take part in various missions in war zones etc to assist those that are in need. He had been the general secretary of the Greek section of Medecins Sans Frontieres for 3 years in the past.
He was appointed to his current post in 2019.
