About the Service
We have a dedicated Learning Disability and Autism team who cover the whole of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, which includes Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital, University Dental Hospital, Wythenshawe Hospital, Trafford General, Withington Hospital, Altrincham Hospital and North Manchester General.
The team supports individuals that may need support to access healthcare.
Inclusion Criteria
- Anyone with a diagnosis of a Learning Disability
- Anyone with a diagnosis of Autism
- Individuals that are aged 18 years and above
- Individuals that are aged 16 and 17 who are accessing adults’ services.
Unfortunately, the team are unable to support adults who do not have a diagnosis, this includes individuals with ADHD and learning difficulties.
For anyone accessing paediatric services, please contact the Focus Support Team at FSTLDA@mft.nhs.uk.
The team works closely with hospital staff to help ensure patients with learning disabilities and/or autism receive safe, person-centred care. This includes supporting reasonable adjustments and promoting effective communication to meet individual needs.
