Biography

Dr Alexander G. Mathioudakis is Senior Lecturer in Respiratory Medicine at the University of Manchester and Honorary Consultant Respiratory Physician at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, UK.

He specialises in airway diseases, particularly COPD, and is committed to delivering personalised, evidence-based care that places patients’ needs and treatment goals at the centre of decision-making.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Mathioudakis leads internationally recognised research aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of airway diseases (particularly COPD). He leads the NIHR-funded ICS-RECODE study, which is investigating how treatments for COPD can be better tailored to individual patients. He also holds leadership roles within the European Respiratory Society and has contributed to the development of national and international clinical guidelines and healthcare policy.
