Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy provides an assessment and treatment service for patients to enable them to maximise their potential, compensate for disability and aid discharge planning by working with the individual to aid their physical, functional and social needs.

We cover a whole range of areas within the Hospital, including:

  • General Rehabilitation
  • Stroke/Neuro Rehabilitation
  • Cardiac Rehabilitation
  • Burns and Plastics
  • Rheumatology Outpatients
  • Assessment and Treatment Centre
  • Active Therapy Team

The Active Therapy Team address the needs of both patients and carers and is involved in health promotion, complementary therapies, diversional and social activities. They run specific community groups for people with Dementia, Carers and Stroke services.

Location

The Acute and Rehabilitation Services are based at Wythenshawe Hospital, and the Active Therapy Service is based at Withington.

The main department is based on the Ground Floor – Main Outpatients entrance within Physiotherapy.

Referral

Many wards do not need a referral system, however, inpatient referrals can be made on the OT Referral Form and faxed to 0161 291 5016.

Referrals to the Active Therapy Team can be discussed by calling 0161 217 4920.
