Biography

Dr Chakrabarti is a Consultant Paediatrician in the NHS, appointed in 2014, with over 25 years of experience in paediatrics. He specialises in general paediatrics with a particular interest in neonatal care and is currently developing further expertise in the management of children with diabetes.

He works as a Consultant General Paediatrician with a neonatal focus in a Level 2 neonatal unit, where he is actively involved in delivering high-quality care to newborns and children.

Dr Chakrabarti has extensive experience in safeguarding and previously served as the Named Doctor for Safeguarding Children in a busy acute NHS Trust for three years, contributing significantly to child protection services.

He has a strong commitment to medical education and assessment. He is a Senior Examiner for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) and has substantial experience examining and senior examining MRCPCH clinical examinations both in the UK and internationally. He is also a host for the MRCPCH Clinical Examination at North Manchester General Hospital, a role he has undertaken for the past four years.

In addition, Dr Chakrabarti is an Undergraduate Clinical Placement Supervisor and has received a Gold score with exceptionally high feedback from medical students, reflecting his dedication to teaching and mentorship.

He is a certified Neonatal Life Support (NLS) Instructor and is actively involved in delivering courses as well as mentoring new instructors.

Dr Chakrabarti also contributes to national workforce development through his role as a member of the RCPCH Appointment and Advisory Committee, where he regularly participates in consultant recruitment panels representing the College.
