Biography
Mr Sainuddin began his clinical career as a dentist in 1993 before completing a three-year Master’s degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in India. Early experience caring for patients with head and neck cancer shaped his interest in reconstruction and highlighted the value of broader medical training in delivering the highest standard of care.
Driven by a commitment to comprehensive patient care, he moved to the UK to continue his training. He started as a junior trainee at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, completed his medical degree in Cardiff in 2011, and then undertook surgical training in South Wales before progressing to specialist training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Manchester.
Following the award of Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, he further developed his expertise through a fellowship in 3D-planned facial reconstruction in Germany. He joined Manchester Royal Infirmary as a consultant in 2019, and since then, his practice has focused largely on head and neck oncology and vascular malformations, with particular expertise in complex reconstructive microvascular surgery.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Sainuddin has published widely and remains committed to high-quality, patient-centred care, service development and surgical education. He leads the OMFS Managed Single Service across Manchester Royal Infirmary, North Manchester General and Wythenshawe Hospitals, and contributes more broadly to the specialty in the North West through his advisory role with the Royal College of Surgeons of England and BAOMS. He also holds teaching roles with the University of Manchester and Health Education North West, where he supports and mentors aspiring Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons from the UK and overseas.
