Biography

Professor Ray studied pharmacology and medicine at the University of Bristol Medical School where he was a University Undergraduate Scholar and graduated as Silver Medallist. He completed his MD degree as a British Heart Foundation supported Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow before further cardiology training in Newcastle, Liverpool and Vancouver.

Professor Ray was appointed as consultant cardiologist at Wythenshawe Hospital in 1995. He is a past president of the British Cardiovascular Society and the current National Clinical Director for Heart Disease in NHS England. His clinical practice is now limited to outpatient work.
