Dr Tristan Banks is a Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology, with specialist interests in HIV, viral hepatitis, chronic pulmonary aspergillosis, and general infectious diseases. His clinical focus also includes malaria, tropical infections, and infectious disease epidemiology, with a strong interest in the interface between clinical care and public health.
Biography
Dr Tristan Banks is a Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). He is based across the Oxford Road Campus and North Manchester General Hospital, and runs specialist clinics at Withington Hospital (HIV services) and Wythenshawe Hospital (National Aspergillosis Centre).
He works closely with the vascular team at Manchester Royal Infirmary through a multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach to manage vascular-related infections, and is actively involved in developing and improving the inpatient infection consult service at the Oxford Road Campus.
He has contributed to research on neurological manifestations of COVID-19, including a study analyzing prognostic indicators and outcomes in hospitalized patients.
Dr Banks’s extensive clinical and research experience positions him as a key contributor to the field of infectious diseases within the Manchester healthcare community.
