Biography
Dr Kate Pendry qualified from Bristol University in 1983 and after training in Newcastle, Nottingham, Glasgow and Manchester, She has been a consultant haematologist since 1993. In 2009 she moved to a new post in Transfusion Medicine. This is a joint post between Central Manchester Hospitals and NHS Blood and Transplant. She is the National Clinical Director for Patient Blood Management and secretary of the National Blood Transfusion Committee. She is the clinical lead for Transfusion in Central Manchester Hospitals and has a special interest in patient blood management. She is the Immediate Past President of the Pathology Section of the Manchester Medical Society (2015-2016). Kate is an Associate Editor of Transfusion Medicine
Kate uses social media for education in haematology and transfusion and is recognised as one of the top international influencers in haematology on Twitter #blooducation #patientbloodmanagement
