The Paediatric Mortuary is situated in a state of the art purpose built facility within the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital on the third floor.
It is closely linked with the St Mary’s Obstetrics and Gynaecology departments in its location within Manchester Foundation Trust Oxford Road Campus.
We are a small, highly trained and dedicated team who offer a high quality service to bereaved families. Over the years we have developed close links with our families and have provided them with necessary ongoing support.
We also offer a new bespoke parent-friendly viewing facility within our department.
As part of the mortuary services we carry out post mortems for all consented hospital cases within St Mary’s Hospital. We are the largest referral centre for stillbirth, second trimester losses and terminations of pregnancy consented post mortems for the North West of England. We also carry out post mortems for HM Coroners referral cases from Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cumbria.
All of our services are carried out in accordance with the appropriate HTA guidelines and are performed with care and dignity at all times.
