Andrology Scheme Distributions 

Participants will receive four distributions per annum.  These are dispatched in May, August, November and February.

Each distribution will consist of assessment for Sperm Concentration, Morphology and Motility.

Results entry and reports are available online only. All new participants will be provided with instructions and passwords. Online assessment for sperm morphology and sperm motility is in collaboration with GameteExpert. One licence is provided for submission of laboratory results. Additional licences may be purchased by individuals within the laboratory to perform online analysis and compare with others within the unit (IQC). IQC is eligible for CPD points.

Sperm Concentration and Morphology

This consists of four formalin fixed semen samples. These specimens should be used by the participant to assess sperm concentration and to prepare slides for sperm morphology evaluation. The morphology slides should be stained by the participants’ usual staining method for semen samples and examined by a microscope with x1000 magnification.

Sperm Motility and Interpretive Sperm Morphology

These are online analytes. Video recordings of four semen samples for the assessment of sperm motility and images of 24 sperm for morphological assessment (in collaboration with GameteExpert).For enrolment information and latest prices see homepage or email repscience@ukneqas.org.uk

Embryo Morphology

Participants will receive four distributions per year. These are dispatched in May, August, November and February. Results entry and reports are available online only. All new participants will be provided with instructions and passwords. Online assessment for sperm morphology and sperm motility is in collaboration with GameteExpert. Additional licences may be purchased by individuals within the laboratory to perform online analysis and compare with others within the unit (IQC). IQC is eligible for CPD points.

A library will also build up to allow monthly IQC. Each distribution will consist of video clips of embryos from 4 patients. The user will grade embryos according to the UK NEQAS embryo grading scheme , available on the homepage. This grading scheme has been endorsed by NICE(National Institute for Health and Care Excellence). Once abnormal is selected a series of options will appear for the user to complete. All results will be submitted on line.
