You have had a positive pregnancy test, congratulations!
New pregnancy referral
Early access to maternity care is important to ensure that all the appropriate care options are discussed with you, including all antenatal screening options. This is important for you and your baby’s health
You can do this by either:
Get in touch with your local midwife
Once the referral has been sent, you will be offered a booking appointment with a midwife when you are around 9 weeks pregnant, or 2 weeks after you send the referral.
Your appointments may be with your community midwife, in the hospital antenatal clinics, or a mixture of both. This is dependent on where you live and whether you have any pre-existing medical conditions.
If you have any concerns before seeing your midwife such as bleeding or pain, please contact one of the Emergency Gynaecology Units.
Before 16 weeks of pregnancy call the Early Pregnancy Unit
- Saint Mary’s North Manchester: 0161 701 2757
- Saint Mary’s Wythenshawe: 0161 291 2561 or 0161 291 5060
(Saint Mary’s Oxford Road does not have an Early Pregnancy Unit so please call North Manchester or Wythenshawe)
If these departments are closed and it is urgent, you can also go to the Accident and Emergency department.
