Legendary Greater Manchester musicians such as The Stone Roses, New Order and Elbow as well as contemporary artists Bugzy Malone and Pale Waves, and Liam Gallagher’s Beady Eye have lent their lyrics to a Greater Manchester nurse recruitment campaign.

The film, ‘Unsung’, features Greater Manchester nurses reading aloud lyrics from well-known songs by Manchester musicians, as part of a campaign to highlight the fantastic career opportunities in the region and drive more nurses to study here, start their career here, and develop and excel here.

The campaign is supported by all four Greater Manchester universities, NHS providers, GP Practices and independent care homes and is part of a wider programme of work that is in development to improve the region’s offer to nurses.

The campaign has been led by Greater Manchester nurses on behalf of Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership, the body overseeing devolution of the area’s health and social care budget, with support from the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham.

Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester said: “This video is brilliant. It celebrates two of the things I love most about Greater Manchester – our music and our NHS – and the campaign reflects our commitment to continuing to make this a great place to start your career, or to come and work as a nurse, as we build a health and care workforce fit for the future.”

Professor Cheryl Lenney, Chief Nurse at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust said: “There has never been a more exciting time to be a nurse in Greater Manchester and we’re thrilled to be working with so many Manchester musicians to celebrate this. Whether you are just about to start your career, you are looking to change your career, or you are a qualified nurse looking to relocate for new opportunities, Greater Manchester wants you.
