  • UDHM Nurse shortlisted for national Dentistry Award

Congratulations to Ellie Maher, Dental Nurse Matron at the University Dental Hospital of Manchester (UDHM), who has been shortlisted for Best Team Member – North West at the 2019 Dentistry Awards.

Ellie said “I feel privileged to have been nominated for a national award never mind shortlisted as a finalist! It really does mean a lot to me that someone has taken the time to nominate me and obviously thinks that I’m doing a good job for our patients and also our staff.”

Ellie celebrated 24 years with UDHM this September. She first joined the Hospital on the Trainee Dental Nurse programme back in 1995, and has since worked across various departments.

When asked what she thought made her a good team member, Ellie said: “I absolutely love my job! I am passionate about Dental Nursing and raising the profile of Dental Nurses wherever I can. I always treat people how I want to be treated and I would never ask anyone to do anything I wouldn’t be willing to do myself.

“I make time to listen to my team and I actively look at ways in which I can support and develop my staff to reach their potential. I honestly wouldn’t be able to do my job without the fantastic team of Dental Nurses, admin staff, students and clinicians that I work with at the Dental Hospital.”

The Dentistry Awards are the UK’s largest dental awards ceremony, formally recognising excellent dentistry being carried out by teams and individuals throughout the UK and Ireland.

The winners will be announced at the Athena in Leicester on Friday 22nd November.
