Biography

Mr Mohammed Shamim (M.S.) Absar is an esteemed Consultant Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon at Manchester, UK, currently serving as the Clinical head of Surgery at North Manchester Care group (NMCG). He has served as Acting deputy Medical Director(DMD), Associate Medical Director and Clinical Director of Breast Surgery at the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. He also held the post of Breast Pathway Board Director previously.

He earned his medical degree in 1993 and later achieved a Master of Surgery (MS) from Utkal University in 1999. After relocating to the UK in 2000, he completed higher surgical training and a specialised fellowship in oncoplastic surgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. He is widely recognised for pioneering innovative techniques, such as sentinel lymph node biopsy and lipofilling, to improve patient outcomes in breast cancer management at North Manchester General Hospital. He has also achieved a masers in Leadership from Manchester Business School.

His clinical practice focuses on both malignant and benign breast conditions, with a specific interest in oncoplastic breast conservation, therapeutic mammoplasty, and complex reconstruction. In addition to his NHS leadership roles, Mr Absar is active in Research Lead for his unit. He remains a prominent figure in the medical community, frequently publishing research in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at international conferences.
