Biography
Dr Burthem trained at University of Liverpool qualifying in 1986 with honours, his further training included funded fellowships from MRC (4years) and LRF (3 years) completing PhD and post-doctoral research including Lectureship with Oxford University. As Senior Lecturer in UMIST/University of Manchester Dr Burthem researched and gained wide experience in malignant Haematology before taking his present role.
Dr Burthem has original research publications with main author publications in BLOOD and additional roles with European Haematology Association and UK NEQAS where he chairs morphology SAG and CPD schemes. Dr Burthem has additional interest in machine learning and artificial intelligence in Haematology.
