Biography
Dr Boyd graduated from St George’s University of London in 2012 and completed his postgraduate training in Northern Ireland, with a placement towards the end of his haematology training with the red cell team in Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital to gain further experience in managing red cell disorders, particularly sickle cell and thalassaemia.
His first consultant role was in Belfast City Hospital beginning in August 2021 specialising in myeloid malignancies and clinical lead for red cell disorders. He then moved in April 2023 to a joint post in North Middlesex University Hospital (as clinical lead for red cell disorders) and University College London Hospital (as part of the red cell consultant team). He has been working in Manchester Royal Infirmary within the MFT Haemoglobinopathy Service since December 2024.
