Biography
Mr. Qutayba Almerie is a highly experienced Consultant Surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary, part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. He specialises in upper gastrointestinal, bariatric and general surgery.
Education & Surgical Training
Mr. Almerie graduated from medical school at the top of his class before undertaking extensive postgraduate training in general, laparoscopic, and upper gastrointestinal surgery in the Yorkshire region leading. He completed his surgical training in Upper GI & General Surgery (CCT) in 2020.
Dedicated to further his expertise in in bariatric and metabolic surgery, Mr. Almerie pursued further specialist training in weight loss surgery. He completed the prestigious Phoenix Health Advanced Bariatric Surgery Fellowship, a rigorous 2-year fellowship program which provided him with comprehensive training in all aspects of weight loss surgery.
Academic Contribution
Beyond his clinical practice, Mr. Almerie is actively involved in medical education and research. He serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Manchester University mentoring future doctors and contributing to advancements in upper GI and obesity surgery.
His research is widely recognised, with over 50 published medical articles and multiple co-authored book chapters. He has presented his work extensively at national and international conferences, furthering innovation in the field of Upper GI and weight loss surgery.
