Henshaws held their annual awards on the afternoon of the 21st June at the Midland Hotel to celebrate the achievements of service users, volunteers, staff and supporters across Greater Manchester and Merseyside. The day was hosted by BBC North West presenter Annabel Tiffin, with the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester and High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, along with various Mayors across Greater Manchester area presenting the awards. There was a delicious afternoon tea as well as fantastic entertainment from singer Jess Bennett and wordsmith Dave Steele.
Laura Ross, (Children’s and Genetics Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO), Manchester Royal Eye Hospital) was up against some stiff competition in the Eye Health Professional of the Year category and was fortunate enough to win. Each award presented was beautifully handmade by Henshaws Art Makers at their Arts and Crafts centre in Knaresborough.
A very well done all round to those who won and were nominated for an award, including the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital’s own Liz Revington who was also nominated for the Eye Health Professional of the Year. Gail Brett of Henshaws said, “Liz is so supportive of Henshaws within Altrincham Hospital, she has helped me develop in my role as patient support officer and has provided so many opportunities for us to promote our services. Liz is a true professional who shows daily just how much the staff and patients mean to her.”
