We have one of the largest cardiothoracic (heart and lung surgery) departments in the country and we are one of only two centres in the UK to provide heart and lung surgery, transplant, and specialised ECMO (extra corporeal membrane oxygenation) services under one roof.
We are also fortunate at MFT that our breast surgeons are able to offer a full range of surgical options for both breast conserving surgery and mastectomy.
Those patients who choose breast reconstruction benefit from the expertise of surgeons from our Plastic Surgery department, who hold joint clinics with our Breast Surgeons.
The Manchester Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns at MFT also offers a wide range of sub specialty surgical interventions, these include hand surgery for both adults and paediatrics, complex lower limb reconstruction (in partnership with Orthopaedic department), skin malignancy, cleft lip and palate, abdominal and chest wall reconstructions along with complex surgical reconstruction for patients with severe burns.
