Introduction
Our Clinical Diabetes and Endocrinology and Research centre combines patient care, research and education in diabetes, endocrinology and metabolic medicine. We are already a leading unit in Greater Manchester to truly become a centre of excellence to be proud of for the local community. Our centre is a leading research centre with the highest recruitment of patient to NIHR clinical trials currently with over 800 patients per year taking part in research. We are proud to be the top recruiting Diabetes Centre in Greater Manchester and is ranked 6th in the England. With the new hospital development project, clinical diabetes team aim to expand high quality care and continue to innovate with technology clinics and be able to offer a truly integrated clinical diabetes & endocrine service for the local population with partnership of local general practitioners and community services.
Our dedicated Diabetes Inpatient ward provides high quality inpatient care for complex diabetes patients in a multi-disciplinary environment. We aim to expand early supported discharges with virtual follow ups using technology for complex diabetes and endocrine patients to receive treatment in their home environment.
We are proud to be a leading team in teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate education.
