Updated MFT Covid-19 Interim Visiting Policy – Tuesday 4th January 2022

We have had to change our normal visiting arrangements to help safeguard our patients and staff from COVID-19.

We keep these under constant review in light of national guidance, COVID-19 levels in our communities and other factors, including the requirements of individual patients.

The full policy is available on this page, but key points are:

Visits are now only in certain circumstances, and must be pre-authorised by ward staff – visitors cannot simply turn up.

Patients are only allowed one visitor at a time.

In line with national guidance, all visitors should have proof of a negative Lateral Flow Test (LFT) which has been done in advance. We cannot provide you with a LFT when you arrive at the hospital. You will be asked to show proof of your results. See information sheet on this page for more details.

In addition:

  • You must not visit if you have any COVID-19/flu symptoms, and
  • You must not visit if you have had contact with someone who has COVID-19, and
  • You must not visit if you have been vomiting/had diarrhoea within the last 48 hours.

Visitors must observe all our Infection Prevention and Control measures (including using gel, social distancing and wearing a mask, plus any other requirements which apply).

Visitors who are vulnerable as a result of their medication, chronic illness or are over the age of 70 are advised not to visit if possible.

Thank you for helping us keep high standards of Infection Prevention and Control, which reduce the chance of visitors bringing COVID-19 into our hospitals.
