Your appointment will be on a mobile clinic, in your local community, with a Lung Health Check Nurse. They will ask you questions about your breathing, overall lung health, lifestyle, and medical history. You may need to have a low-dose CT scan, which should happen on the same day, at the mobile clinic.
If you have any of the below symptoms or are concerned about your lung health please contact your GP:
- Persistent cough that lasts three weeks or more
- Breathlessness
- Repeat chest infections
- Chest and/or shoulder pain
- Loss of appetite and/or unexplained weight loss
- Change in a long term cough, or a cough that gets worse
- Coughing up blood
- Unexplained fatigue or lack of energy
- Hoarseness
- Finger clubbing
- Blood clots

This can identify signs of cancer at an early stage when it is much more treatable - ultimately saving move lives. Your lung health check appointment is also an opportunity for other respiratory conditions to be identified, with treatment arranged. And if you are still a smoker, then you can receive support to quit from the smoking cessation nurses, who work as part of the team on the mobile units.
